Go Skateboarding day is a special holiday developed by the
international association of skateboard companies in which essentially all
skateboarders skate to promote skateboarding as well as to refute the ‘no
skateboarding’ signs in various countries. I have not seen any no skateboarding
symbols in Kenya have you?
On this day one can either represent where they live by
skating in their home area and doing something that will catch the glance of
people in the long run discovering potential skateboarders within these
regions.

My story begins when I saw one skateboarder opposite
reinsurance plaza practising some tricks. Later on he was joined by Leo Kilel.
He joined the rather unenthusiastic skateboarder then his face started to glow
with thrill. `Did you check out the finals of the battle of the berrics?’ Leo
was asked. `Yeah, I did’ said Leo. ‘I’m
glad a Joe won the battle instead of the infamous pros. Remember that trick
Pressure heelflip?’ said Ben- finally could make out heads and tails of his
name. ‘How does that the back foot work?
is the concave maybe? But I feel as if it was fixed-the match. As the
two conversed Sam Maguta joined them, George, Edu, Kevin Murage joined the
party.
Then Sam, Leo, and Ben decided to check out a spot in posta
city square; They left the skaters who had just arrived. Sam and George did
some grinding on a curb just past the bridge to poster. Surprisingly, they took
quite a while to get chased away but they weren’t. Later on, they regrouped
near a spot opposite Nakumatt City Hall. The group attempted different tricks
from Frontside 180, Frontside shuv its, Frontside boneless, Ollie over an
obstacle similar to a kicker ramp. Then when the fun climaxed; Security came
and said ‘’Hiyo haifanywi hapa!” meaning no skateboarding is done here.

When people started getting hungry; they proceeded to ``Klabuu’’
to eat. Some individuals had rather heavy meals I was wondering how they would
manage to skate down the Kileleshwa downhills. In other news, Kassy and George
were left in Uhuru Park. But they joined everyone at the Sunken Park at night.

When night fell, the skateboarders found themselves in the
sunken car park. One the best moments of the day was the game of skate between
Kassy, George and Kevin Maina. It was intense; tricks like pop shuv it sex
change, Nollie flip, caballerial flip and one of my favourites half cabs were
set.
I believe Go Skateboarding was celebrated appropriately. If
I can recall vividly someone put an individual Ben had a poster in his bag
vindicating to the public that June 21st is a holiday. Additionally,
photos and videos were made so check out the skateboarding society of Kenya for
more updates.
